William E. Robinson, 81, of Elizabethtown, IL, passed away on Thursday October 27, 2016 at Hardin County General Hospital. He was born on January 9, 1935 to Loy Thomas and Alice Sandage Robinson.
Bill lived the majority of his life in Hardin County, Illinois, leaving only to pursue work opportunities in Evansville, Indiana and Alton, Illinois. As a young man, he was employed at various jobs, among them the local sawmill and an airplane factory before returning to work in the local mines, eventually becoming a self-taught mechanic working out of the Local 318 Operating engineers Union Hall until he retired at the age of 62 to his beloved farm to raise hay and cattle.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Wanda Louise Ozee Robinson; Son: William Michael and Sharon Robinson; Son: Thomas Lyle Robinson; Daughter: Sherry and Barney Hastie; Daughter: Sheryl and Ron McDowell; 9 Grand Children; 19 Great Grand Children; Sister: Eula White; and many more relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents: Loy and Alice Robinson; Brothers: Walter and Robert; Sisters: Nellie Sandefur, Jessie Tanner, Freeda Fricker, Norma Ozee; and 1 Great Grand Daughter: Olivia Hastie.
Hardin County Funeral Services, Cox Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held on Sunday October 30, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Cox Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 P.M. until funeral time. Burial will follow at Rose Cemetery. Minister Justin Hastie will officiate the services.
