Rev. Wendalenous Joel Cox

Rev. Wendalenous Joel Cox, 67, of Marion, KY died Sunday at Livingston County Hospital in Salem, KY. He was born August 29, 1945 in Sebring, Florida where his parents were stationed at the close of World War II. He was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church, Air Force Veteran and retired Federal Employee and drove a school bus for the Crittenden County School System for 23 years.
Joel married Linda Gayle Boyd on March 27, 1965 in Evansville, IN with her father, Rev. Carl Boyd performing the ceremony. In April of 1966 Joel was inducted into the Air Force and was a plumber by trade. After serving in the Air Force he was employed by the Federal Government as a plumber and lived in many different places in the United States.
Joel was Ordained on March 29, 1981 at Bethany Baptist Church in Evansville, IN as a Southern Baptist Minister. New Haven Baptist Church, Evansville, IN, Piney Creek Baptist Church in Marion, KY, Emmaus Baptist Church in Marion, KY, Carrsville Baptist Church in Carrsville, KY, Lola Baptist Church in Lola Kentucky and Baker Church in Marion, KY were his pastorates.
Surviving is his wife, Linda Gayle Cox of Marion, KY; daughter, Melissa Beavers of Princeton, KY; son, Timothy Alan Cox of Marion, KY; 5 grandchildren, Jessica Marie Givens, Roy Eugene Givens, Wesley Alan Cox, Jolene Dawn Cox and Matthew Wayne Cox; 1 great grandchild, Kennedy Addison Buchanan; brothers, Rodger Dale Cox of Evansville, IN, Mitchell Keith Cox of Haubstadt, IN and Charles Daniel Cox of Newburgh, IN; sister, Brenda Winternheimer of Newburgh, IN.
Preceding him in death was a son, Matthew Aaron Cox and parents, Charles Joseph and Marjorie Ellen Cox.
Services are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY with interment in Mapleview Cemetery. The family will receiv visitors from 5-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Military rites will be given at the cemetery on Wednesday.
