Verdna Barnard Austin, 96, of Henderson, Kentucky, formerly of Cave-In-Rock, Illinois died Friday, December 5, 2008 at Medco of Henderson. She was a member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois.
Mrs. Austin is survived by her son, Rev. Arthur (Charlotte) Austin, Jr. of Cave-In-Rock, Illinois; daughters, Faye Oxford of Cave-In-Rock, IL. and Veldene Kenreck of Henderson, KY.; grandchildren, Tim "Bobbi" Oxford of McCleansboro, IL., Dennis Daymon of Elizabethtown, IL., Tammy Oxford of Henderson, KY., and David "Suzanne" Austin of Eldorado Hills, CA; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Weldon Barnard of Cave-In-Rock, IL. and Ray Barnard of Eldorado, IL.; sisters, Opal Frailey of Cave-In-Rock, IL. and Laura Switzer of Mt. Vernon, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Arthur Austin, Sr.; parents, Gentry and Myra Barnard; 1 grandchild; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Services are scheduled for 11 AM Monday, December 8, 2008 at Mt. Zion General Baptist Church in Cave-In-Rock, IL. Interment will follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6-9 PM Sunday at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois and from 9 AM until service time Monday at the church.
