Velna Ruth Derringer Price, born on July 9, 1931, died July 6, 2015 at the age of 83 years 11 months 28 days, 3 days before her 84th Birthday. Ruth died at her home with her loving family by her side, in central community, in the house that her husband built for her with his own hands. Ruth spent her whole life as a care giver. Since the age of 14, working out for others elderly and sick, both privately and later through chore house keepers. That was only the commercial side of her giving. She was a very proud mother of seven children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all who loved her as much as she loved them.
Ruth grew up in the Lambtown, Il. community of Hardin County as a young girl, attending church at the Antioch Church of Christ where she was baptized February 1945 at the age of 14. She lived her life as a faithful Christian from then until her death. One of mom’s saddest regrets was not being physically able to attend services at Philadelphia Church of Christ for the last few months with her sister in Christ, Golden Rodgers and the rest of her loving Gods family.
Ruth married on January 7, 1950 to Eugene Price, and through their endless love produced 7 children: Larry and Debbie Price, Garland Wayne Price (preceded in infancy), Roy Dale and Donna Price, Wanda and Fred Drysdale, Randall Price who remained single and always her baby boy, Tammie Price who remains single, and Tina and Carl Price.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Sophie Derringer; her husband of 54 years, Eugene Price; son, Garland Wayne Price in infancy; 1 sibling, a brother in law Fred Drysdale, 2 sister in laws. On her husband’s side of the family she was the last remaining patriarch of her generation!
