Steven R. Spillman, 59, of Marion, KY died Tuesday January 17, 2017 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was a member of Life In Christ Church, Fraternal Order of Police, the regional representative for Citizens Foster Care Review Board, Board of Directors for Habitat For Humanity in Union Count, KY, Innkeeper at Grace House Bed and Breakfast and an avid hunter.
As a police officer he served from December 1994 - July 1997 with the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office and was their K-9 Officer; July 1997 - March 2003 as an officer with the Marion Police Department; from March 2003 - May 2005 as an officer with Murray State University; May 2005 - December 2008 as a deputy for the Calloway County Sheriff's Department when he was injured on duty but continued to work light duty until September 14, 2009; and from January 2009 until September 2009 he was Interim Chief for the Sturgis Police Department.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Woodall of Marion, KY; daughter, Jennifer Ann (Chandler) Nelson of Sturgis, KY; son, Jason Robert (Whitley) Spillman of Marion, KY; step children, John Imboden of Radcliffe, KY and Jesse Imboden of Marion, KY; parents, Robert Jerome and Roberta Jeanene Spillman of Chatanooga, TN; grandchildren, Ayden and Levi Spillman and Finlee and Riker Nelson; brothers, Tony Spillman of Hendersonville, TN and David Spillman of Princeton, KY; sisters, Jeanene Spillman and Julie Grannon both of Chatanooga, TN.
Services are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday January 21, 2017 at Life In Christ Church in Marion, KY. The family will receive visitors from 9 AM until service time at the church.
