SHIRLEY TABER
February 3, 1940 – December 30, 2021
Shirley A. Taber, 81, passed away at 7:10 pm Dec. 30, 2021, at Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY. Shirley was born Feb. 3, 1940, Rosiclare IL, the daughter of Sam and Lillian (Reed) Moore. She married John Darrell Taber on October 30, 1960, and he preceded her in death on August 1, 1997.
Shirley worked early in her career for the Hardin County Telephone Company. Shirley took great pride in being able to select her home phone number which she kept until the current day. She was a homemaker for many years thereafter and spent later years doing volunteer work along with her mother for the Hardin County General Hospital Auxiliary and the Rosiclare Public Library. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed reading and crocheting in her spare time. Shirley enjoyed sharing the history of Rosiclare with all those who would lend an ear to her. Most importantly, Shirley’s passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in which she believed could do no wrong in her eyes.
Survivors include her children, Sharon (Taber) Patton and her husband Jerry Patton of Rosiclare, IL. Coy Taber and his wife Tammy (Davis) Taber of Washington, Indiana. 5 grandchildren; Jerry Paul (JP) Patton of McCutchanville, Indiana, Haley Patton of Rosiclare, IL, Brad Taber of Newburgh, Indiana, Adam Taber of Greenville, South Carolina, and Caleb Taber of Indianapolis, Indiana. 5 great-grandchildren Jace Patton of McCutchanville, Indiana, Emery Stricklin of Rosiclare, IL, Paisley Patton of Rosiclare, IL, Theo Taber of Newburgh, Indiana and Cora Taber of Newburgh, Indiana, brother, JE Moore of Spaulding IL.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, John Darrell Taber and parents, Sam and Lillian Moore.
Friends may visit with Shirley’s family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January. 4, 2022 at Hardin County Funeral Services, 6 Stone Church Road, Rosiclare, IL with Roy L. Baker officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Fluorine Cemetery, Rosiclare.
