Sherilee Palmer, 87, of Rosiclare, Illinois passed away April 15, 2024 at Rosiclare Rehab. She was born May 3, 1936 to the late Willard Ray and Alma Ilene (Riley) Stanford. In 1954 she graduated from Rosiclare High School and shortly following graduating she married Hershel Palmer.
Sherilee worked as a payroll clerk at Ozark Mahoning for 38 and a half years, working there until she retired. She really enjoyed her job and working with numbers. In her free time she enjoyed
reading, painting and other hobbies. Hershel and Sherilee spent a lot of time on the farm they owned in Pope County. She enjoyed mowing while Hershel worked tending the garden and they both enjoyed letting the dogs roam and run the farm. They built a home in Rosiclare where they both resided. After Hershel’s death Sherilee remained in their home she loved until Feburary of 2024 when Sherilee’s health declined. She had no choice but to leave her home and move to Rosiclare Rehab where she made her home until her recent passing.
Sherilee was a very quiet lady but not many knew she was very quick witted and had a talent of writing poems. Before her decline in health she enjoyed her daily phone calls with her sister Betty Rae Reed, watching politics on TV, calling and talking to friends, her home meal deliveries and visits from her family.
Sherilee is survived by her sister, Betty Rae Reed and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Palmer; sister, Melva Ruth Goins; 3 brothers Ronald Glen Stanford, Robert Neal Stanford and Danny Deneen Stanford.
Services will be held at 1 PM Friday April 19, 2024 at Hardin County Funeral Service in Rosiclare, Illinois. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until funeral time Friday. Brother Harold Miller will be officiating. Burial will be at Fluorine Cemetery in Rosiclare.
