Roger Gail Winters, 76, of Elizabethtown, IL passed away peacefully at his home in the Rock Creek community on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.Roger was born on July 5, 1948; the only son of Floyd T and Hazel Winters of Rock Creek. He graduated from Cave in Rock High School in 1967. Roger served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, with a tour of duty in Vietnam as a member of the 101st Airborne Division.On December 19, 1970, Roger married the love of his life Brenda Sue Cook, and to this union three daughters were born, Kristin, Stephanie, and Amanda. During his lifetime, Roger was employed by Minerva Oil Company, Ozark Mahoning, andLaFarge. His retirement in 2013 allowed him to enjoy his favorite pastimes of fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.Roger is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue; daughters Kristin and Jason McDonald, Stephanie Mosby, and Amanda and Matt Hall; grandchildren Kylie Mosby, Connor McDonald, Taylor and Kevin Gibbs, and Cooper Hall; great-grandchildren Hailey and Cole Reed, and Kenlee Hall; his mother Hazel Winters; sisters Jean and Joel Potts, Deanie and Mike Ferrell, Mona Daniels, Hester and Gary Suits, and Kathy Haney; and several nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his father Floyd T. Winters; grandson Ryne Reed; brothers in law Bob Daniels and Jerry Haney; and nephew Michael Dean Ferrell.Private graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Adams Cemetery (c/o Banterra Bank) in memory of Roger.
