Richie Roberts, 79, of Marion, died at 7:00 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Crittenden County Health and Rehab.
He was born in Richlands, Virginia on January 18, 1929. Mr. Roberts was a retired coal miner, retired from West Point Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., a Kentucky Colonel and volunteer firefighter for Ft. Montgomery Fire Department in N.Y.
Surviving are 7 children; Ritchie "Steve" (Becky) Roberts, Jimmy (Gail) Roberts, Annetta (Rick) Nelson, Donna (Gary) Rushing, Bonnie (David) Rushing, James "Skipper" (Tammy) Roberts and Rocky (Amy) Roberts all of Marion, Kentucky. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; brothers, Clyde and Larry Roberts of Richlands, VA. and sisters, Lori Tolliver and Lillie Horton of Richlands, VA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James Floyd and Eliza Ellen Roberts; wives, Meddie Jean Brannam Roberts and Dorothy Jean Sutton Roberts; son, Ricky Ray Roberts; one grandchild and 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY. with Bro. Jim Wring Officiating. Interment will follow in Freedom Cemtery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-9 PM Friday at the funeral home.
