On January 25, 2014, Phillip LeRoy Kirk went to join the Lord in all his glory. LeRoy was born in Rosiclare, Illinois on October 17, 1939 to the late Vernon (Doc) and Gladys (Jackson) Kirk. He entered the United States Navy on August 21, 1957 and received an honorable discharge on September 23, 1960. Upon leaving the Navy, he moved to Joliet, Illinois for employment. He subsequently moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and began a 13 year career with the United States Postal Service in October of 1966. During his time in Arizona, he met Darlene Horn and they married on July 15 , 1971. In July of 1979, LeRoy retired from the Postal Service and moved Darlene and their daughter Carol back home to Rosiclare.
LeRoy spent his time fishing, hunting and most importantly, working with and training horses. His love of horses started with his time in Arizona and carried over until his later years when his health limited his ability to get in the field with the animals he so dearly loved.
LeRoy leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Darlene. He is also survived by his daughter, Carol and her husband Steve Smith and two grandchildren Macey and Peyton, all of Paducah, Kentucky; his sister Doris Blair of Bloomington, IL; his sister Carol and husband Jerry Austin of Tulsa, OK; and his sister Linda and husband Jerry Oxford of Carmi, IL. He is also survived by 4 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews and numerous close friends. LeRoy was preceded in death by his father and mother, his dear brother Paul Wayne, brother-in-law Prentice Blair and many close friends. They are all rejoicing with the Lord in Heaven at his entry into the kingdom. May GOD Bless them all.
