Philip Larry Parish, 70, of Caldwell Springs went to be with the Lord on Sunday at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born July 26, 1941, the only son of Hiram Oliver and Bonnie Lois Horning Parish of the Caldwell Springs Community. He attended Caldwell Springs, Frances and Crittenden County High Schools and graduated in 1959 and was also a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church.
He worked 16 years at Potter and Brumfield before becoming a full time farmer on the family farm. He started Parish Farms and became one of the largest farmers in the area. Larry was a past farmer of the year and also an avid hunter and gun smith. In his spare time he loved tractor pullin' and built two pullin' tractors, one named "El Nino" and the other "Fearless Farmall" which is a member of Mid South Pullers. Larry also restored the family farm which was purchased in 1919.
Surviving is his wife, Margaret McMican Parish whom he married on June 26, 1966; daughter, Audra Allison (Tracy) Hunt of Mattoon; son, Philip Ashley (Natalie) Parish of Caldwell Springs and grandchildren, Lauren Lynn Hunt, Sydney Allison Hunt, Ashley Cali Parish and Philip Rhett Parish.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Bonnie Parish.
Services are scheduled for 1PM Wednesday at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church with interment in Koon Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4-8 PM Tuesday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY and from 9 AM until service time Wednesday at the church.
