Martha Elizabeth "Marty" McKenney, 89, of Marion, KY died June 1, 2021 at her home in Marion, KY. She was a member of Marion United Methodist Church and a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's Degree in History.
Marty worked as a substitute teacher for many years and was active in her church, especially in her dear church circle and her "The Class That Cares" Sunday School Class. She co-led Christian retreats for over 30 years. She was a tireless and skillful volunteer: for Navy Relief, helping young military families; with the Crittenden County girls track team and with the Cornerstone Foundation, her son's missionary hospital-based outreach in Honduras. She was a talented artist, avid researcher and undaunted lover of the Lord, her family, her friends and her country.
Survivors include her husband, Tom C. McKenney, Lt. Colonel U.S.M.C. (Retired) of Marion, KY; children, Melissa Walker of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Jefferson (Rosanne) McKenney of Lucinda, Honduras; Susan (Pat) Jarvis of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and Sally (Joe) Mahoney of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Kate, Elizabeth, Susanna, Rebecca, Nathaniel, Gabriel, Hannah, Margaret, Rachel and Thomas and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean C. and Martha McKinney and sister, Pat Vozga.
Services are scheduled for 11 AM Saturday June 5, 2021 at Marion United Methodist Church with interment in Mapleview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 5-8 PM Friday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY and from 9 AM until service time Saturday at the church.
