Margaret N. (Watson) Binkley, 89, formerly of Marion, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at her home in Lenexa, Kansas. Margaret was born on July 20, 1931 in Sheridan, Kentucky and graduated from Tolu High School in 1950. She attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Indiana before taking a job with Moore’s Business Forms in Marion. She married Paul E. Binkley of Salem, Kentucky in 1954 and moved to Chicago, where she worked in accounting at Cook County Hospital while Paul attended Coyne Electrical School. Margaret and Paul later lived in several cities and towns in the Midwest and Ohio Valley while he worked on construction as an electrician. They moved their family back to Salem in 1966 and then to nearby Crittenden County in 1968. She and Paul were members of Salem Baptist Church. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for Glenn’s Prescription Center and Glenn’s Apothecary for over 40 years. She retired in 2011 and then moved to Kansas in 2013 to be near her daughter.
Margaret is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paula Belt and Billy Belt of Shawnee, Kansas; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff Binkley and Margaret (Wight) Binkley of Dunwoody, Georgia; grandchildren Sean Binkley, Wyatt Henton and Erin Henton, as well as great-grandson Noah, and several nieces and a nephew. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Binkley; her mother and father, Margaret “Maggie” (McKinney) and Coy Watson; granddaughter, Maura Binkley; sister and brother-in-law, Martha (Watson) Beavers and Donald Beavers; brother and sister-in-law, Paul Watson and Lois (Moore) Watson; as well as niece, Darla Watson and nephew, Donald David Beavers.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Mapleview Cemetery in Marion, Kentucky. Reverend Chris Clarke will officiate.
