Magaret Thornberry

Margaret Elaine Riggs Thornberry, 96, of RR1 Cave in Rock, passed away at Saline Care Center at 3:03 A.M. January 15, 2010. Mrs. Thornberry was born in Attica, Michigan on July 19, 1913 to the late Fred Russell and Anna (Gilbert) Russell. Mrs. Thornberry moved to Hardin County when she was 16, and enjoyed making her home and raising her family in Cave in Rock, IL. On July 5, 1929, she married the late Nick Riggs, who passed on October 12, 1964. Mrs. Thornberry was a retired homemaker, member of the Cave in Rock Christian Church, member of the Cave in Rock Eastern Star and also the White Shrine.
She is survived by her son, Bradley Riggs of Marion, IL. Three Daughters, Mary Ann Davidson of Cave in Rock; Jodi Austin of Cave in Rock; Nikke Lynn Sehie of Flora, IL. One sister, Betty Force of Michigan. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Thornberry was preceded by her parents, two sons; Mike and Bob Riggs, her husband Nick Riggs, four brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Thornberrys visitation will be held on Saturday January 16, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at Rose - Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave in Rock, IL. There will be Eastern Star Services during the vitation. Her funeral service will be held Sunday January 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Bullock will be officiating the funeral services. Burial will follow Cave Hill Cemetery in Cave in Rock, IL.
