Lula Ellen Gilmore

Lula Ellen (Easley) Gilmore, age 97, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, October 5, 2024 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. Ellen was a life-long beautician, accomplished seamstress and homemaker, and ever-present support system for family and friends alike. To all that knew her, she was a kind and gentle spirit with a smile for everyone that needed one. She was also a wonderfully loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt many times over. 

She is survived by daughter, Leigh Ellen Shepherd and husband Wayne of Freeport, FL; sons, Geoffrey Gilmore of Hendersonville, TN and Brian Gilmore and wife, LaDonna of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, Christina Burke (Jonathan), Matthew Langley (Cherilyn), Jaime Pare, Brittany Watson (Lawson), Dalton Gilmore, Ethan Gilmore (Carla) and Breanna Wink (Dakota) and great-grandchildren Emma, Hayden, Lena, Garon, Gavin, Avery, Arden, Atley, Anakin, Asher, Wyatt and Warren. She is also survived by one remaining sibling, sister Wanda Ditty of Springfield, OH.

She was preceded in death by parents, Lourenzia Alfred Easley and Minnie Latisha Underdown Easley; husband, Douglas Gilmore and many siblings.

A special thanks goes out to McKendree Manor Assisted Living Memory Care Unit and Alive Hospice for the compassionate and loving care given to Mom in her final days.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY from 10:30am to 1:00pm. Chapel Service at 1:00pm and short graveside service at Mapleview Cemetery in Marion, KY with Bro. Billy Parrish officiating.
