Lawrence Frederick Thornton 3rd, age 21 of rural Elizabethtown, Il. passed away Friday October 26, 2012 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on route 34.
He was a police dispatcher for Hardin County Sherriff Dept., a Medic for Illinois National Guard in Marion, IL., a volunteer fireman for Elizabethtown, IL., and a nursing student at S.I.C.
He is survived by two sons, Braden Thornton of Elizabethtown and Migel Gomez of Herrin. Five brothers, Codey Spurr of New Haven, IL., Dusten Spurr of Rosiclare, IL., David Thornton of Elizabethtown, IL., Kayle Spurr of Elizabethtown, IL., and Zachary Thornton of Portage, IN. Parents Lawrence Frederick Thornton Jr. and Rachel Thornton (Spurr). Paternal grandparents, David and Carol Young, great grandparents Robert (preceded) and Rosemary Smith of Knox, IN., and great great grandmother Ann Yelkich of Wallparaiso, IN. Two nieces and one nephew of Rosiclare. Favorite aunt, Julissa Lopez Davis of Crown Point, IN. Special cousins, Chase Davis and Brandan Bank of Crown Point, IN. Numerous other aunts, cousins, uncles, and relatives. Special friends Wendell Conkle and Gabby, and Adam from Cambria, IL.
Hardin County Funeral Services, Cox Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday October 30, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will start at 10:00 A.M. and continue till service time.
