Obituary for John Marion Winders
John Marion Winders passed away June 7, 2018 at his home in Paducah, Kentucky.
John was born June 27, 1940 at Cave-In Rock, IL to John Henry and Treva (McDowell) Winders. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara J. (Green) Winders, and two children Kenneth Winders of Columbus, OH and Deborah Conlin (Larry) of Bartlett, TN. His sister Shirley Minnie, sister-in-law Sheila Winders, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive him.
John is preceded in death by his Parents: John Henry and Treva Winders; Brother: Charles Winders; Sister: Ethel T. Winders.
John worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for over 40 years. After his retirement, he also worked for the Fruit Belt FS.
John lived in the Eichorn community for 50 years. He loved the Lord, tending to his cattle, fishing, hunting and gardening. His favorite pastime was watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
John was a graduate from Rosiclare High in 1958. He served on Hardin County school boards for over 18 years, always making sure the children’s best interest were taken into account. He also served on the Southern Seven Health Department board.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10 at the Hardin County Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 11AM – 1PM with funeral services immediately following. Rev. Lowell Gowins will be officiating. Burial will be at the Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, IL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the National Parkinson Foundation.
