Herschel Leroy Fields, 80, of Cave In Rock, IL. passed away on Saturday January 31, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 26, 1934 in Hardin County, IL. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the First Baptist Church of Rosiclare, IL, and an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by Son: Bob and Janie Fields of Harrisburg, IL.; Son: Don “Randy” and Karen Fields of Cave In Rock, IL.; Granddaughter: Elizabeth and Danny Shelton; Granddaughter: Tamara and Dusten Spurr; Granddaughter: Cassandra Fields; Grandson: Mitchell Fields; Grandson: Daniel and Jennifer Hutchinson; 13 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; Special Friend: Virginia Millikan.
He was preceded in death by his Wife: Barbara Pennell Fields; Parents: Mr. and Mrs. George Fields; Bothers: George “Ed” and Charles “Cokie” Fields; Sisters: Louise Walker and Ruth Jones.
Hardin County Funeral Services, Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. As per his wishes, Mr. Fields has been cremated. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday February 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Cave Hill Cemetery. Rev. Roy Baker will officiate the services. American Legion Post 571 will conduct military honors.
