Donald Smith of Elizabethtown, IL passed away peacefully at his home on March 30, 2024 at the age of 77.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Newell and Freda Smith; brothers, Vernon Smith, Wendell Smith, Fred Smith and Loy Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Smith of Elizabethtown, IL; step daughters, Tammy Curry and Suzie Womack and sons, Greg Smith and Mitchell Smith; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces and one special nephew, Donnie Smith, who was with him to the end.

Don spent his life as a coal miner, retiring from Amax Coal.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Hardin County Funeral Service in Rosiclare, IL is in charge of arrangements.
