Mr. DeWayne Mathews

DeWayne Mathews, 52, of Harrisburg, IL. passed away surrounded by his family on May 1, 2017 at 10:30 P.M. in Rosiclare, IL. He was born on August 15, 1964 in Harrisburg, IL. to Freda A Parkinson and Charles E. “Tommy” Mathews. Dewayne attended Hardin County Elementary and Harrisburg High School. He worked for the Harrisburg Township Park District as Maintenance Foreman, a job where he enjoyed being outdoors and interacting with people. He will be truly missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
He is survived by a Daughter: Ashley Lynn Mathews of West Frankfort, IL.; Grand Daughters: Mackenna and Audrey; Brother: Randall K. Milligan of Eldorado, IL.; Sister: Janice and Marvin Thomas of Cave In Rock, IL.; Sister: Donna and Corky Winters of Golconda, IL.; Sister: Teresa Dutton of Cave in Rock, IL.; Sister: Sheila and Jim Shelby of Rosiclare, IL.; 16 nephews and nieces; 43 great nephews and nieces; 3 great great nephews and nieces; many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by both his Parents: Charles “Tommy” and Freda Mathews; Grandparents: Bryant and Stella Parkinson and the late Robbie Smock.
Hardin County Funeral Services, Cox Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 5, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Cox Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors on Friday May 5, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. till funeral time. Burial will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery. Rev. Mike Dutton will officiate the services.
