Charles Edward "Snake" Winters, 70, of Cave-In-Rock, IL was born on February 1, 1942 to Charley and Loueva Beavers Winters and died Monday at Hardin County General Hospital.
Charles had a love of fishing that he shared with his sons. He worked as a truck driver for many years. Many family gatherings could find Charles playing guitar and doing his train whistle for the children.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia Gayle Scott Winters of Cave-In-Rock, IL whom he married on May 19, 1962.; sons, Donnie (Carol) Winters, Darrell (Eva) Winters and Shane (Darlene) Winters all of Cave-In-Rock, IL and Chuck (Marla) Winters and Brock (April) Winters both of Rosiclare, IL; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Gary (Betty) Winters and Jim (Donna) Winters both of Cave-In-Rock, IL; sister, Barbara Lane of Rosiclare, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Loueva Beavers Winters; grandson, Bobby Gene; brother-in-law, Don Lane and a nephew Dean Winters.
Services are scheduled for 1 PM Thursday at Potters Church in Cave-In-Rock, IL with interment in Cave Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-9 PM Wednesday at the church.
