Charles E. "Jackie" Milligan, 90, of Cave-In-Rock, IL and a longtime resident of Wasson, IL went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2020 at Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare, IL.
He was born March 25, 1929 in Lambtown, IL to the late Arthur and Etta Huffsey Milligan. His mother died when he was only 2 years of age and thereafter his father, Arthur, married Ruby Simmons and they raised him, his 4 siblings and 8 other children. In 1950 he married the love of his life, Mary J. Smith of Marion, KY who preceded him in death.
He grew up in Lambtown, IL and graduated from Cave-In-Rock High School. He then moved to Chicago where he worked for General Motors Company. Later, he and his family moved to Wasson, IL where he retired after working for Millikan's GMC of Shawneetown, IL. In 2009 he returned to Cave-In-Rock to be closer to his family. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Cave-In-Rock and loved the Lord and cherished his family.
Survivors include his children, Carroll (Maritess) Milligan of Elizabethtown, IL, Naomi (Tom) Sinks of Clarksville, TN and Dennis Milligan of Elizabethtown, IL; sisters, Helen Balnis of Chicago, IL, Myretta Mills of Cave-In-Rock, IL, Thelma Dent of Naperville, IL, Gloria Webb of Paducah, KY and Judith Milligan of St. Louis, MO; brothers, Gaylord Milligan of Harrisburg, IL and Jerry Milligan of Harrisburg, IL; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
Along with his wife he is preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur, Jr. Milligan, Bill Milligan, Faye Judge, James "Jimmy" Milligan and Joseph Milligan.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday February 22, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Cave-In-Rock, IL with interment in Cave Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-8:00 pm Friday at Hardin County Funeral Service in Rosiclare and from 10:00 am until service time at the church on Saturday.
