Billy Evans Holcomb

Billy Evans Holcomb, 70, of Frances, KY leaped into the arms of our Loving Lord and Savior on August 13, 2023 at his home in Marion, KY. Billy will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, sense of humor and he went out of his way to help anyone in need, He is mostly known for his story telling. Many around the stores of Marion enjoyed seeing him come in because he always had a story to tell. Bill also loved to make kids laugh. He will be missed by his family at Christmas when we always had to remember what Christmas was really about. Billy always read a story before the gifts were open and Christmas Dinner was served. Our hearts will not heal on this side of heaven, however we will smile fondly every time we think back on the memories each of us shared with him.
Billy Evans Holcomb was born March 24, 1953 in Frances, Kentucky. He was a 1971 graduate of Crown Point Indiana High School and worked for his dad's Body Shop at a young age. Billy also worked for Coca Cola for 11 years and drove a semi truck for several companies. His last job was working for P&H Farms and he loved working for Phillip Parish and Chris Hooks. He thought the world of the people he worked with.
He finally got to move back home to Kentucky. Billy would tell people he's from Kentucky no matter where he lived. "Kentucky was his home."
Billy had many friends in Crown Point, Indiana and here in Marion. So many it's hard to count. He never met a stranger and always found the good in people and was always glad when something good happened in their lives.
He loved dirt track racing with his late model which he started at a young age. He loved old cars and tractors, but really loved his Harley Motorcycles and riding with friends.
Billy was also a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending worship.
Preceding Billy in death are his parents, Billy Douglas and Joan (Joy) Evans Holcomb; grandparents, George Vernon and Jeneva Holcomb and Ervin and Carnia Woodall.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Holcomb of Marion, KY; sisters, Nancy Saavedra of Frances, KY and Laura Holcomb of Crown Point, IN: brother, Michael "Mike" (Laurie) Holcomb of Marion, KY; children, Shawn, Billy, Jr., Laura Lee, Elliott and Adrian; step children, Jenifer, Michelle, J.R., Brad, Stephanie, Curtis, Katina and James Rodney and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 1 PM Thursday August17, 2023 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY with interment in Frances Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM Wednesday and 9 AM until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
