Billy Gene Hinchee

Marion, Kentucky

Billy Hinchee, 90 of Marion, KY went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2024. Born and raised in the Mattoon community, Billy shared 69 wonderful years with his wife Loretta and raised five children. He was a loving husband and father, and a true friend to many. He attended Cave Springs General Baptist Church and New Hope Church. He enjoyed reading and sharing his understanding of the Bible, spending time outdoors, taking care of all the animals, and most of all sharing time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, creating toys for his grandchildren, and making and repairing guns. He worked in Gary, Indiana in a steel mill, the Chrysler Auto in Evansville, Indiana, and Potter & Brumfield in Marion, Kentucky for 31 years retiring as a toolmaker where his co-workers were lifelong friends.

Survivors include his wife; Loretta Hinchee, children; Danny Hinchee, Howard Hinchee, Jeanne Hinchee, and Michelle Speed, grandchildren; Melissa, Ashley, Tehya, and Riley, as well as 10 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Charlie and Rosa Hinchee, son; Jeffrey Hinchee, brothers; Norman and Charles Hinchee, and sisters; Lorene Henderson, and Muriel Humphrey.

Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday August 13, 2024, at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial following at Crowell Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 12 until 2 at the funeral home.
