Betty Jeanette Damron Todd was born in Lola, Kentucky to Russell and Mallie Ledbetter Damron on February 16, 1931 and joined the Heavenly host on February 11, 2024 in Johnson City, Tennessee at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 26 days. Betty grew up during the Great Depression and World War II but had a plethora of stories of the fun and full life she had with her 9 siblings living in Rosiclare and up on Daisy Ridge.
Betty worked at many different jobs, having obtained her Certified Nurse’s Aide
certificate and her Beautician’s license. She worked at Hardin County Hospital as a CNA, in the laundry and in the kitchen. She loved people and made so many friends over the years. We couldn’t go anywhere without someone saying “oh, you are Betty’s kid? I just love Betty!” Betty was a member of the Rosiclare General Baptist church where she raised her two youngest children and insisted on the others attending when they were home visiting. She was Baptized in Big Creek, at the Iron Furnace along with her mother. Pictures show a line of people all the way up on the bridge awaiting their turn. In later years, she attended the First Baptist Church in Rosiclare.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Sandie) Moore, David (Kathleen) Moore, Susan (Doug) Cook, Rick (Leanne) Moore, Patty Tidwell, Tracey (David) Brasel, and Sheri (Bert) McCracken; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Donna Cowsert and Susie Walker and brother Gary Damron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bob Moore; first husband, Gene Moore; second husband, Charles Todd; companion, Dale Brent; brothers, William Damron, Dennis Damron and Glen Damron; sisters, Jackie Hamp, Pat Damron, and Anita Fricker; granddaughter, Emily Brasel; great grandson, Corin Moore and one great great grandchild.
Services will be held Friday, February 16 at 1pm at Hardin County Funeral Service with Rev. Stan Pennell officiating. Visitation will be from 10am to funeral time. Interment will be in Fluorine Cemetery in Rosiclare, IL.
