Ada Lorene Travis Slaton, 85, of Sturgis, KY died Tuesday, June 22 at Union County Methodist Hospital. She worked at Marion Cafe for a few years and then was a homemaker. She was a member of Sugar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marion, KY. Surviving are her children, Allen (Joy) Travis of Florence, MT., Helen-Ann (Ken) Redd of Plainfield, IN., Linda (Charles) Foster of Evansville, IN., Patricia (Russell) Bethe of Elberfield, IN., Gretta (Glenn) Ridings of Paducah, KY., Judy Adams of Sturgis, KY. and Marylin (Mack) Thornton of Sturgis, KY. Her 17 grandchildren include Heath, Lana, Terri, Kenny, Keith, Janelle, Ginny, Jake, Kimberly, Chris, Justin, Ashley, Amanda, Chasity, Mandy, Victoria and Katelyn. Her 18 great grandchildren include Brenden, Kendall, Jaylen, Lala-Ann, Alexis, Brady, Cole, Rick, Brice, Jessica, Cole, Ethan, Alley, Autumn, Devin, Michael, Audrey and Haley. Also surviving are 4 stepchildren, Newman (Betty) Travis of Marion, KY., Ernestine Scott of Valparaiso, IN., Betty-Jane (Gene) Garner of Augusta, GA. and Shirley Byford of Marion, KY. Proceeding her in death were he husband of 26 years, William Goebel Travis; 4 daughters, Flora-Ellen, Sharon, Karen and LouDon Beavers Davis; parents, Will and Flora Conger of Marion, KY; brothers, Ernest Conger of Evansville, IN and Robert Conger of Tucson, Arizona; sisters, Velda Woodall of Paducah, KY and Edna Lamb of Marion, KY; granddaughter, Kimberly Redd; great grandson, Josh Beavers; stepsons, James (Bub) Travis and Charles Travis of Marion, KY and step daughter, Billy Ryan of Princeton, KY.
Services are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY with interment in Sugar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-9 PM Friday at the funeral home.
